Assess
4.1.1 · What it is
A short, structured look at how your legal work is done now and what a production line could carry. We talk to the people who sponsor the work and the people who do it, sit with one practice group or team while the work is done, and take an inventory of the tools already in the building, approved or not.
The result is a floor plan for the next twelve months: the candidate use cases scored for volume, repeatability, risk and value, the first three worked up with a business case each, and a readout to the partners or the leadership group so the decision can be made in the room.
4.1.2 · Who it is for
Law firms and in-house legal teams starting from the beginning, when the honest question is where to start. It suits a sponsor at managing partner, chief operating officer or general counsel level who has a date they care about.
Courts and tribunals use the same assessment to see where AI is already arriving in registry work and in the profession’s filings, before anyone proposes a pilot.
4.1.3 · What happens
- Interviews with the sponsor, two or three group heads and the people who run operations.
- A day sitting with a practice group or registry team, recording how the work is really done: the sequence, the hand-offs and the judgement calls.
- An inventory of the tools in use and the work each one touches.
- A scored portfolio of candidate use cases, narrowed to three with a business case for each.
- A twelve-month floor plan and a readout for the partners or the leadership group.
